FIRE!!!!!!

BEWARE FIRE DANGER!!!

We had a scary but weird experience happen to us this month.
Kelly and I were in the kitchen getting dinner ready when all of a sudden the light in the living room goes out. No Big deal right. Well then it got REALLY REALLY orange in the light and then it went out completly. Odd. So I got a chair and went to change the light bulb. I stood up and I said hmm smells like a fire up here. I took of the casing to the light and this is what I found:
The ORANGE we saw before it went completly dark was the actual light bulb ON FIRE!! it had melted the bulb and everything. Nothing elese was burned, just the bulb. And here they are supposed to be energy effiecent. UMMM Im just glad it didn't start on fire, we were blessed for sure!! Now Im a little nervous now when I turn on that light or any of my lights.

Lap Top

So let me give you some history on this before I jump right into the story of Kellys Christmas this year.
When I was little we kids wanted a dog, well my Mom got us a dog even though we all knew my Dad didn't want a dog - not even a little. Well to make him "LIKE" the dog a little more or warm up the idea that we got a dog we named him FANTA after a coke drink since my Dad works for coke. Can't hate something that you do for a living right? Yeah well he didn't like the dog, our plan failed. But we kept the dog anyway and he was the best dog EVER!!

Well when Kelly and I got married maybe 6 months to a year into our marriage I decided I wanted a dog, but I have always wanted a Lab. Well we lived in an apartment and we didn't have the room for a Lab, nor could we have a dog. Well I was trying to convice Kelly we needed a dog so I told him this story of my Dad and Fanta. He then asked me what I would name a dog so he would like the dog better.... Well I came up with Router. And we ended up getting Router (a much smaller dog which I love more now, little poops are enough to clean up, couldn't imaginve Lab poop) Well then we have always wanted to either breed Router (if you know of any girl dogs that need a boyfriend let me know) or to get another one like him. Well to keep on the theme of naming our dogs the way we do we said we would name our next dog Lap Top.

Okay now to present day:
Kelly had been telling me for months before Christmas that he wanted a Lap Top (the computer not the do) and that I needed to call his friend Ryan to help pick out a good one. Well on cyber Monday I did just that... I ordered him the lap top he wanted and the one his friend told me to buy. But I played and toyed with him ALL month long. We even had deep conversations about getting him a Lap Top. I even went as far as asking him what Dave Ramsey would say about getting a lap top (yes he listens to him on the radio...that and others *SIGH*) anyway I had him convinced he wasn't getting one...or so he thought. He really didn't know. Well then I had this brillant idea one day at work. The Humane Society comes to my work once a week to show off a pet of the week, to help sell the animals they are boarding. Well on the day she came in she had a Dorkie puppy. Those are a mich between a dauchsund and a yorkie. Really really cute dogs!!! I could have taken him hom that day. Well I asked her if she had any adoption paperwork on her that I could have (not buying a dog, just for Kellys present) She did, lucky day!! So I went home and filled out this paperwork with the information on a fake dog that I was going to tell Kelly that I had purchased for him.... his LAP TOP!!

So here is Kelly opening his LAP TOP. Yes I even put the framed paperwork in a lap top box and had a whole heep load of paper and wrapped it and had in under the tree for days. So he thought he was getting a lap top for sure, because the box was the size of the lap top and heavy as one. To make it even better I had even wrapped his old broken lap top and given that to him as well. But he realized his old one was missing and ruined that surprise. So Christmas morning he opening his "lap top" Well to say the least he wasn't to excited about it, in fact he was down right disturbed about it. This picture doesn't show the dissapointmen he had when he opened the box as he did that morning. Well he then went downstairs to compose himself, look up the type of dog it was and try to be happy for the present he was given. Well at that moment he had found a pee spot that Router had left behind. It was the turning point he wasn not ready for a dog. So he had to come find me and discuss this.

Wel I was feeding Kairi and getting her ready for a nap when he comes in. He just kind of sat there and small chatted with me. I could tell that something was bothering him, or tha the wanted to talk about something and I was laughing so hard inside. Well then he starts to ask me about this dog, and if we are ready for another dog and how he likes his life the way it is, and how he doens't have time to train another puppy. and on and on he goes. He askes if we can return the dog cause he just doens't want it. Well right on the paperwork I gave him it says no refunds. I tell him that we have some people in our ward that was looking for a dog for Christmas and maybe they would buy it. But then I look at him and I started to cry - REAL tears and all and ask him: "You don't like my present I gave you?" Yep I crushed him at that moment he felt like a big ball of poo. So I left the room crying with him saying as I am leaving... we can keep the dog. I go into the kitchen trying not to laugh but pointing out to him mom I have real tears and he is really broken up about this dog. He felt like CRAP!!

Then the rest of his family got to his Mom's house and we got to open up the rest of our chirstmas presents.

Can you see the excitment on my face!!!!!!!!!

So our new Lap Top is now named Dorkie our newest pet to our family!

Love you Kelly!!!! It was a Christmas we wont forget anytime soon. He is even going to keep the framed paperwork of our "dog" and keep it in his Man cave just as a reminder of how great I really am!!!! Merry Christmas Babe!

December

Well before 2010 gets away from me I guess I better post for December. Alot went on this month and I had a hard time finding time to blog... so here is a picture recap for the month. I will have to tell about Kellys Christmas present....

We got to go to the Festival of trees with our friends Wendy and Mel

I got ambitious this year and I made our stockings. Who needs to be traditional colors? I am a very unique person and I like to be different and so my stockings are no exception. Kellys is the green (he wasnted tennis ball green this is the best I could come up with) Mine is the first dot ones and Kairis is the little dot ones. And of course Routers is the bone (no I didn't make his)

Kairi got her first REAL food - sweet potatoes. She does really good with eating. Can't to try so many other new foods. And making my own food is so much fun!

This year we got the chance to sneek away to Cedar City for Christmas. This doensn't happen ever because of Kellys crazy work schedule and being in retail during Christmas you don't get much time off. But we had a great time in Cedar and it was so nice to spend the holidays with his family, since we get to be here for most of the holidays with mine. The best part was they didn't even know we were coming, we surprised them on Christmas Eve.

Kairi loved Christmas and all her presents, she was one tired girl she slept a lot of the day only because we had a long drive the day before and we kept her up on Christmas Eve till midnight. Yeah we didn't do well to have her in bed so Santa could come. He forgave her, he came anyway.

Kairi turned 5 months!
Im sure she still weighs the same, she is getting longer. She still fits in some of her 3 month clothes, some are a little to short. I did just put away alot of her younger clothes just to make room for her new clothes and her winter clothes. Being born in July you get a lot of shorts and short sleeve shirts...makes a cold winter. The black legging she has on in this picture are leggings I made for her, I use those so she can still wear her shorts. I thik they are adorable though.

We got ot meet Santa, She could have cared less. I think she asked for a new dolly, well Kelly tried to convice her to ask for a lap top for him for Christmas. Pretty sure she was happy with her own hands.... she always has those in her mouth

This cutie can scoot. She only goes forward but she gets where she wants. She looks so tiny in this picture.

My sister once said that you will train your child like your dog, they do tricks just like dogs do. Well now I have 3. I had a cookie in my hand and they all wanted it.

Holidays are exhausting!! Taking a break for some signing times.

GUESS WHO?

Guess who had her first night in her crib?
Yep last night I made the leap and put her in her own crib. She did actually quite well, only got up 3 times twice to feed and once just cause she woke up. I have been having her take naps in her crib for weeks just to get her used to it. So I think that helped. I don't think I did well last night. I didn't sleep very well. I am still nervous and scared and just want her to be safe. I know she is but I still worry about her. But she did great, we will see about tonight and how that goes. Maybe I will sleep a little more. Does it get easier as they get older? Having them becoming so independent?

Another first this week is Kairi can now roll from stomach to back and back to stomach. After our thanksgiving meal on Sunday Kelly and were cleaning up and he looked over at her and said; "wasn't she on her back?" yep she WAS that is the key... she was now on her stomach. so we missed the first roll but she still did it. But then the next day she rolled for me.

And this is where it begins!! She is on the move now!! She is a wiggle worm and this is just the begginning!! Am I ready for this?
The Question is Am I ready for this:

At Kairis 4 month appointment her doctor said from now to 6 months she can start eating rice cereal and then one new food a week. Well he said when I felt she was ready. Well I didn't feel she was ready at that time. But the last few days she has been watching me eat and trying to grab my spoon as I was eating. She wanted to try whatever I was eating. So while I ate I would give her her own spoon and she would go to town on that thing. She loved it in her mouth, she would smile everytime she put it in her mouth and she was so interested in this new object in her hand. So I figured she is ready to try some cereal.

At first she didn't know what to think of it. She thought it was pretty weird stuff.

But then she gobbled thats stuff up!!! As we were feeding her we were trying to make sure we were showing her the sign language that went with everything. Like more, please, food. Her little hands just don't move very easy. But she loved the cereal. So I think for a little while we will add cereal to her days just to see how she goes. Then slowly we will add different baby foods into her diet. Oh how do they grow up so fast.

Do you make your own baby food or just buy it? I kind of want to try the path of making my own for her. Thoughts?

Her faces while eating were classic. Then the babbling that went on after she would take each bite. Ohh Kairi I love you!! Thank you for making my days brighter!

THANKSGIVING

I love Thanksgiving!! I love the food, I love being with family, and I love being so thankful for the things I do have.

We had a great time this year. Kelly had to work all morning so it was just Kairi and I. I left her at my dads house in the morning to go and run a race. Yep I was one of the many crazy ones. But it has been a tradition the last couple of years to run a 5K the morning of thanksgiving. It kind of makes eating all day okay and worth it. This year though it was SO COLD!! When I left to go to the race it was 9 degrees. IT WAS COLD!!! But once I started running and got going it actually wasn't to bad. I didn't even feel my lungs getting cold. Granted I had a headache later on that day. But it was so much fun - its a good tradition that will keep me healthy in the long run.

So that is one of the many things I am thankful for. I am thankful for my health and the fact that I can run. I used to go to the gym everyday before I had Kairi and now that I can't go as often as I like I miss it. But I am thankful I still have the ability to work out. Makes me feel so good!!

Im also thankful for my family. For our little family, but also MY ENTIRE family. We all have our crazy Kooks about us but together we have so much fun. We laugh, we play, and I love getting together with my family not just for the holidays but for everyday occasions as well. I enjoy spending time with them and wish we could all do it more.

Im so thankful for this little girl. She really is the light in my day. She is so much fun and I don't know how I lived without her for so long. Her smile melts my heart. I love it when she cries for me and that sometimes that all she wants. Its nice to be needed in that way. Exhausting at times but I love it. I love being her mom and teaching her new things and showing her new things and being there when she does soemthing new, or sees something for the first time. Makes you apprciate life so much more. It also makes to want to be better so I can be with this little angel forever!! I couldn't imagine my life without her. She is my all, my everything.

Seeing a Chritmas tree for the first time. She thought that was pretty great. And yep she tried to put everything in her mouth.

I love you Kairi. This year we are most thankful we brought you into our family.

Another tradition Kelly and I started last year is after the Thanksgiving day with Family. We have our own Thanksgiving dinner with just us. We make our own feast. So here is Kelly enjoying that feast. I am thankful for Kelly. He works so hard so I can stay home with Kairi, he changes his shifts so he can be with her in the mornings while I am at work. He loves us and does so much fo us. Thank you Kelly for being a great husband and a great Dad!!

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!

4 months old

How time does fly!! 4 MONTH OLD!!!

Stats:

12 lbs

24 3/4 inches long

Heathly and strong and growing like a weed...just not in weight. Thats okay I like her little she still fits in her 0-3 mth clothes.

She is giving Router a run for his money in the length department. He doesn't like laying on his back for this picture, we had to hold him still just to take it. He wasn't in to, I think he knows we are mocking him in a way. But we aren't we are just showing how big she is compared to him.

He was a good sport. He loves her. He is so protective of her. Whenever I am feeding her, he has to be in the same room, if not right at my feet the entire time. If she is napping and she starts to cry he is the first person to the door. Sometimes I don't even hear her and I walk past and there he is sitting at her door waiting for me to open it. He loves her. He is so gentle with her, he plays with her. He likes to run in circles around her and not really nip at her but just prounce into her and back. She loves it she watched him with a huge grin on her face. They are going to grow up to be best buddies I know it!

She had her first Movie Theater movie this month. We went to see the new Harry Potter movie. She did great considering it started at 7 and she goes to bed at 8. She watched the movie for about 20 min then hunger and tiredness settled in. I spent the majority of the movie on the side rocking her. Then after the movie someone had the nerve to say (loud enough for me to hear) "I can't believe she brought a baby" If I would have known who said that I would have gave them a piece of my mind. Geez. But other than that she did great. And the movie was AWESOME!!!!

How did I ever live without her? Kelly always asks why we waited 6 years for her. I keep telling him we had to be ready for her. Yes life is easier without kids, but it sure is a lot more fun with her here. Yes Mom you were right.

Aquarium

I figured since November is almost over I better get in this months blogging done.
So My Aunt Jolene and my Mom were taking my nephews Zack and Gavin to the Aquarium and they invited us to go along. We have always said we wanted to go there so it was perfect!! Well Kairi was okay as long as we were in the lobby, the moment we stepped into the archway leading to all teh fish a SHRIEK would erupt from her mouth. She wasn't having it at all! I don't know why either. I had to take her outside just to calm her down - to bring her back in and have it happen all over again. GEEZ Well Kelly got to calm down and to actually fall asleep. So combination of sleepy and weird dark creepy place it started out rough for us.
We ended up having a lot of fun though. If you haven't been there you should go its pretty fun. We got there just in time to see the penguins being fed. They turned out to be our favorite place, if only the penguin exhibit was bigger.

But for what roomt they had it was pretty great. We got to pet Stingrays and see sharks and a turtle that survived a shark attack. Watching my nephew Zack trying to pet the Stingrays was pretty humorous, the water was just deep enough that he couldn't reach them. But he did a great job of playing in the water!

Then off to the gift shop. This is where Aunt Jolene bought Kairis new favorite toy, her Octopus. It has many legs she can grab and stick in her mouth. She loves it!

Then Kelly found this:

---->
Yep Its a pad of paper MADE OUT OF POO!!! What would possess someone to make this, and why would you want to use it? It has poo on it! Then it made me think of my dear friend Amy Lou. Oh how she would love this. She always had stories of poo, gorillas eating their poo then little boys eating dog poo to imitate the gorillas eating poo. Ohh man we laughed for hours at her poo stories. So yes this is gross in a way but it brings back so many fond memories. Isn't it funny how something can trigger so many memories. Aww thank Kelly for sending me down Memory lane. Thanks Amy for all your funny stories!!
So in part we had a great time!! I love the sea life though!!

Happy Anniversary Babe!!

7 years ago it was freezing -10 degrees and we got hitched!!! Feels like yesterday but feels like forever ago. The temple staff tried to give me away to another guy, there was so much snow that day we almost got snowed in, I lost my earring, forgot our marriage paperwork.... so much happend that day. It was the best day ever though. And look at where are now? How time flies when your having fun!!

Thanks for making me laugh and smile all these years! Love you babe

Everyone has a favorite

This is Kairis new favorite thing. Its her sock monkey!! One day she wouldn't stay napping. She kept waking up and screaming and when I would go in there she would just hold my arm. So just like me when I sleep I like to have something to hold. Either a pillow or Kelly or whatever. So gave her the sock monkey. She grabbed that so fast and she napped 1.5 hours because of it!!! It was a life savor!!! SOCK MONKEY SOCKS!!! So no when we are in the car I take it wherever we go and she usually is pretty happy as long as her sock monkey is right there with her...or her octopus. she loves them both!!! If it helps her sleep Im all for it!! And I think its cute she is attaching herself to it.

Halloween

Yep its almost Thanksgiving and I am just putting up halloween.

Kairi and I carved pumpkins while Daddy was at work. She got very bored very fast. But a tradition is a tradition!

Kairi was 2 things this year for Halloween. First for our ward halloween party she was my good angel. As you can see I was the dark angel. We offset each other well.

Then on Halloween she was my little Pea Pod. Ever since she was a tiny pea inside of me we were always the Princess and the Pea so the theme worked!

Gardner VIllage witches!

Fashion Diva

Have you ever had one of those days where you didn't really think what you put on?

Kelly came home one night to find me like this:

I just got home from a wedding that was outside, it was cold, Kairi was hungry and tired and
screaming at me. I was freezing and had a skirt on. So I grabbed the first pair of pants I could find and took care of Kairi as fast as I could. Did I bother to change after that? Okay I admit I didn't, I went and got some stuff done. And when Kelly got home from work that night I think he had second thoughts about me! Judgement Free Zone!

Pumpkin Patch

What I love most (well one of the many things I love about her) is how we get to experience SO many first with Kairi!! This is her FIRST halloween. And we have so many more to come. We decided while Kelly had a day off we would run up to the pumpkin patch and get some pumpkins and take some cute pictures with Kairi. (don't worry Jenn we still want to go with you and the boys, just wanted to make sure Kelly got to go as well)
There is this pumpkin patch out by Kellys works so skipped on over there. Kairi loves to be outside and she is so stinkin cute!! I think my favorite part is her PINK socks.. they don't even match her Orange shirt. Ehh I was going to change them but forgot.. wait till I get her leg warmers on.....

We found a pumpkin just her size... what ever will you carve in it Kairi?

I love Kelly cause he is a crazy kid at heart. This was all his idea - we had to take the mini wheel barrel just so Kairi could push it. Now watching Kelly push a wheel barrel this size, I should have got a picture of that. So yes we are starting child labor young...but she liked it Im sure its hard to tell at 2 months old!!

I love experiencing so many first with her, I can't wait until Christmas!! OIE!!

My world

I have to laugh at myself right now. Well I don't get much time to blog but when I do I try to fit it all in at once, so I apologize for the massive posts! But she has become my world, my all, my joy and I wouldn't change it for the world. I work in the mornings then get to play with her the rest of the day. I try to fit so much in my day that blogging or being on the internet is the last thing on my list. I am trying to find a routine in life, but I know their isn't one and she will change it even if I do make on. One thing I am trying to work back in my life is the gym. I love the gym and thats been a hard adjustment for me is not going as often as I would like, or even at all. I get lucky if I get 1 or 2 times a week. I guess I always have running with her - until its to cold. SIGH but she is my world and I love her.

I love this picture!! I went from my Grandmas house to my Moms house one day and she had pulled her headband over her eyes and fell asleep. I guess it was to bright for her liking. She is so silly. She didn't even cry or anything when she did this.. just went to sleep.

And look what we are doing now! We are starting to grab toys!! If I place them in her hand she now holds on to them and swings them around. As I watched her play with her other toys the ones that she sits under and dangle in her face she even started to swat at them and grab those rings. She is getting so big and so smart. I am starting to also teach her sign language. When I go to feed her I show her the sign for food, or milk. I need to get ahold of those signing time DVDs and start those.

Well I also tried to add a video of Kairi Kicking like crazy but it didnt' work... BOO. She is so active and always has been. Sometimes its hard to hold her cause she is always moving. I think its cause I ran so much pregnant. She is going to be my runner for sure those legs never stop moving. I'll see if I can upload it later.. for now I'm tired and my pillow is calling my name!

Eczema

My baby has eczema. So sad. We noticed it all over her back last night. Her skin was rough and cracking and red and it looked painful. It didn't seem to bother her at all but I called the Doctor and took her in today. We had to put a cream on her skin and really moisturize her up as often as we can with a heavy duty lotion. I have to switch the detergent I wash her clothes in to make it less irritable for her. Reading about eczema it says it very common in infants but not very common for infants that are breast fed, but if you drink cows milk or eat egg products babies can get it. It also says they can get it if if there is any history of allergys in the family like Asthma or hay fever. Well Kelly side of the family has the worst allergys to me at least (he would agree) so I guess Kairi was doomed from the start. But we caught it early and already with just applying this medication today it seems to be clearing up nicely. Read also that if infants have it, it can be cleared up and usually don't have problems with it later in life.

Its just crazy the things I eat affect her so much!! I can't eat chocolate as it because it upsets her so much. Breast feeding is so rewarding but so hard at the same time. I love it and wouldn't change it for the world. I love it that she knows me and sometimes all she wants is mommy - yes I have what she wants but we have a stronger bond. All good things are hard they say!

2 months

I can't believe it my baby is already 2 months old!! She is getting so fun! She smiles so much, she loves the mornings that is when we are the happiest. Its hard not be happy either when you have that cute face smiling back at you!!

The dog still has the length on her but she is catching up. Mayve if she didn't have her legs all tucked in she might come close.
Stats:
Weight: 9.5
Height: 21 1/2 inches
Head: 37.5 cm

Doctor says she is going great and looks great. But with the 2 month check up comes the 2 month shot!!! dun dun dun I wont lie I cried. When they gave the shots to her the sound that came out of her mouth was TERRIBLE!! You could tell it was not a good feeling. The cry was nothing like I have ever heard it was horrible. I cried, Kelly had to hold her hands down. I was just glad he was there. Then when it was all over I got to cuddle her and make her feel better. The coos that came out of her while holding her were so sad, but she knew she was safe in Moms arms! I don't like shot I couldn't imaging what it feels like to an infant.

She was so brave though and did great, and band-aids make everything better.

I had to reward her for turning 2 months and getting shots and being the cutest thing in the world. So I gave her a pedicure - well kind of.

I did those toes all while she was awake. They by all means are not anything special, the paint is on there and that is what matters but I love them. I love her toes painted. She will be the girliest girl in town Im telling you!!!

Funundrum

The perks at working at a News Studio is they are always getting free stuff for everything. Its called the art of WOOING someone I guess. They get press releases in the mail with free swag all the time. Then they are put on a table for anyone that wants them. Its a nice perk I wont lie!!
So this past week I scored 2 free tickets to the CIRCUS!!! I haven't been to the circus since I was little so I was so excited to go, and to take Kairi. Okay I was so nervous to take her as well because I didn't know how she would handle it, but we braved it anyway.

Well Kelly got home from work late so we got to the circus late, which I hate being late to things to but sometimes what do you do right? Well as we were walking to the circus we happened to come across this:

I guess the elephants had finished what they were doing so they were taking them back to the animal tent. Yept hat is an elephant walking the streets of SLC. It was worth it to be late. Then they had all the PETA protestors out on the streets yelling that the elephants were being treated badly and blah blah blah. I know you believe in something but really yelling on the side of the street... really? Does that really change someones mind about anything..its just annoying.

So there was so much going on at the circus it was seriously a none stop show! One act would end then anther would begins, there was this and that and some over there and some in front of us, and some the the side of us, there were things going on above us I mean there was so much going on! You would be watching one person doing something then you would notice someone else doing something cool - then your eyes would go back to what you were watching. It was hard to keep track of everying. Needless to say there was Lights, Sounds, Booming, and so much more and this is how Kairi sat the entire night:

She sat right on my lap didn't fuss didn't make a peep, just ate her fist and watched EVERYTHING. Her head would turn from side to side and she loved it I think. I was just so proud of her, she did amazing. Everyone sitting around us was amazed of how well behaved she was, and how cute she was!!

But with all that going on - wouldn't you sit and enjoy everything?

We had a great time, I love doing things as a family and experiencing new things. This wasn't just Kairis first Circus it was Kellys too. Perks are so nice!!!
